EDTA President Brian Wynne Named One of 100 “Most Influential People” In the Electric Vehicle Market

Recipients to be honored in Detroit on June 13

Washington, D.C.-June 13, 2011- Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) president Brian Wynne today was named one of the most influential people in the electric vehicle industry.

Automotive News’ “Electrifying 100” list of the “most influential people leading the global transformation of the automobile to an electrified fleet” also includes leaders such as President Obama, General Motors’ Vehicle Line Director for the Chevrolet Volt Tony Posawatz and Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn. Wynne and the other recipients will be recognized tonight in Detroit, in conjunction with the magazine’s Green Car Conference.

“I am honored to be included on the ‘Electrifying 100’ list,” said Wynne. “This recognition is also an honor for EDTA as an association, as it represents the meaningful work we are doing to advance all aspects of electric drive in America – including collaborating with utilities, as well as charging infrastructure and battery technology companies. Electric drive technologies – those available today and those on the horizon – will help the U.S. achieve greater energy security, spend more of its energy dollars domestically, expand competitiveness and create jobs, while at the same time creating a cleaner environment.”

Automotive News chose Wynne as one of the top industry influencers because he has helped increase EDTA Membership from 65 companies in 2004 to 110 companies in April 2011, and has diversified the market sectors represented by those companies. He is currently planning for EDTA to host the 26th International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS), held May 6-9, 2012, in Los Angeles . Furthermore, the magazine recognized Wynne for the recent launch of GoElectricDrive.com, an EDTA website designed to educate consumers about purchasing and owning a plug-in electric vehicle.
