In this case, the hybrid technology is all about torque and performance, and has little to do with reducing fuel use. Specifically, the Quanta Corvette QHP770 has two 134-horsepower electric motors dropped into the car’s rear differential. Combined with the Corvette’s existing mill, the car’s got 770 horsepower. As the Geico pig puts it: “Whhheeeeeeeeeee!”
While Quanta hasn’t released much official on price or performance, the company estimates that the souped up Corvette can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 3.3 seconds. We looked, but for some reason Quanta didn’t give any fuel-economy estimates for this hybrid.
GM released details of the most recent generation of the ‘Vette in August, estimating that the car could go from 0 to 60 mpg in a still really impressive 3.8 seconds. The car also has a 17/29 city/highway fuel-economy split, meaning the car’s city fuel economy is about a third of what the Prius can do.
