Russia’s hybrid yo-mobile trio on display in Moscow

Russia’s first domestically built ë-mobile (pronounced yo-mobile) – the natural gas hybrid minicar dreamed up by billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov – has been wheeled out for viewing by the general public in Moscow. Until January 11th, visitors will be able to catch a glimpse of three variations of the hybrid yo-mobile, which will be on display at a pavilion near Tverskoy Boulevard.

In actuality, the pavilion has been open for two weeks, but, as Yo-Autos’ technical director, Alexander Sinkevich, explains, it “was only open for specialists from various industry branches.” The trio of vehicles on display include a Yo-microvan, a Yo-cross coupe (pictured) and a Yo-mini truck. Sinkevich noted that, “the vehicles are environmentally friendly, energy-saving autos for daily operation in the city, powered by both petrol and liquefied gas”.

Each of the yo-mobiles feature similar specs, which include: a curb weight of 1,543 pounds, a max speed of 75 miles per hour, a cruising range 249 miles and an expected fuel economy rating of 67 miles per gallon. Base price for the yo-mobiles is targeted at $10,000 and production is set to get underway in late 2011 or early 2012.
