Report: Porsche Cayenne hybrid expected to cost $257,000 in China
Recently, Porsche exhibited its 2011 Cayenne Hybrid at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China. While the German automaker isn’t expected to unveil official Chinese pricing for this hybrid SUV until sometime early next year, China Car Times reports that the gas-electric Cayenne will hit the market with a whopping price tag of approximately 1.7 million yuan ($257,397 U.S. at the current exchange rate).
At more than a quarter-million dollars, the Porsche Cayenne hybrid will be one of the nation’s most expensive SUVs. In fact, if the estimated price turns out to be true, the Chinese-market Cayenne gas-electric will be nearly four times as expensive as its U.S.-bound version. In the U.S., the Cayenne S Hybrid will cost you just $67,700. Compounding the potential pricing issue, the China Car Times reports that Porsche’s SUV, with an EPA rating of 23 miles per gallon combined, is unlikely to qualify for any green-related incentives or subsidies in the Chinese market.
