Fisker Automotive has delayed the U.S. launch of its Karma plug-in hybrid sedan on numerous occasions, but slight bumps in the road to production have not altered the automaker’s plans to secure a deal that will see the Karma enter the Chinese market – fingers crossed – by the middle of next year. Reuters reports that Henrik Fisker, the automaker’s chief executive officer, revealed that the company is finalizing negotiations to sell its plug-in hybrid through a “major Chinese distributor.”

A deal to sell the Karma in China may already be in the works, but Fisker also hinted that the automaker is seeking a “strategic partnership” suggesting that a tie up is a “possibility,” but only if the timing is right. With the first factory-built Karma hitting the stage at the Paris Motor Show in early October, it would appear that Fisker’s 403-plus horsepower, $88,000 plug-in is on track – fingers crossed – for its scheduled U.S. launch early next year, with the possibility of a China debut shortly after.
