Audi’s upcoming 2012 Q5 Hybrid was a no show at last year’s LA Auto Show, leaving us short on specs for the automaker’s gas-electric crossover. However, late last week, Audi poured out the details on the Q5’s battery pack at a presentation at the 2011 Advanced Automotive Battery Conference (AABC) in Pasadena, CA.

The Q5 Hybrid sports an air-cooled 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack from Sanyo, which provides the crossover with an electric-only range of approximately 1.9 miles at a maximum speed of 62 miles per hour. The li-ion pack tips the scales at 77 pounds and the combined weight of all of the necessary hybrid components is listed at 286 pounds.

The Q5’s electric-drive system is mated to a turbocharged, 2.0-liter direct-injected four-cylinder gasoline engine, which puts out 208 horsepower. The crossover’s electric motor adds another 44 horsepower to the mix and boosts torque to a total 354 pound-feet. Those stout numbers allow the Q5 to crack off the 0-60 mph run in a few ticks over seven seconds.

The 2012 Audi Q5 Hybrid is scheduled to launch in Europe this spring and in North America before year’s end. Hop the jump for a detailed look at the design and operation of the Audi Q5 Hybrid.
