Report: BMW “i” range to expand after i3, i8 launch in 2013
Earlier this week, BMW announced that its range of high-tech, alternative technology vehicles would be marketed under the “i” sub-brand. The i range’s first two models will be the i3 and i8, otherwise known as the MegaCity and Vision EfficientDynamics, both of which are scheduled to launch in 2013.
Apparently, BMW intends to offer a range of alternatively-fueled i models as well. Autocar reports that Ian Robertson, BMW’s head of sales and marketing, referred to the i3 and i8 as “two bookends for the brand.” Robertson added that “in the middle there will be more books.” Now, if we combine Robertson’s words with the knowledge that BMW has registered trademarks for i1, i2, i3, i4, i5, i6, i7, i8 and i9, it seems reasonably safe to assume that more i models will debut at a later date. We’ll be ready
