The Peugeot 508 RXH diesel-electric hybrid has been officially revealed ahead of its world debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Featuring four-wheel drive via Peugeot’s HYbrid4 technology, the 508 RXH comes packing the automaker’s 2.0-liter HDi diesel engine along with a 28-kilowatt (38-horsepower) electric motor. This system, identical to the one found in Peugeot’s 3008 Hybrid4, makes the 508 RXH a so-called “through-the-road” hybrid vehicle. Combined, the diesel-electric hybrid drive unit delivers up to 147 kW (200 horsepower) and cranks out 332 pound-feet of torque.
The 508 RXH can operate in electric-only mode, though Peugeot has not revealed the vehicle’s “zero-emissions” range. The French automaker say the 508 RXH consumes less than 4.2 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers (56 miles per gallon U.S.) in the combined cycle and emits 109 g/km of CO2.
The 508 RXH will go on sale in spring of 2012. Peugeot says it will extend its HYbrid4 technology to additional vehicles in the near future.

After the launch of the 508 Saloon and SW in spring 2011, acclaimed for its styling
elegance, its presence and its high-level build-quality and attention to detail, the
508 RXH again raises the profile of the entire Peugeot brand reinforcing its
technological lead.
Its posture and its specific design immediately place it in the all road world. Unique,
refined, raised, widened, it is also distinguished by a singular visual signature, with
its distinctive LED lights visible both at day and night, giving an impression of three
vertical ‘lions’ claws on each side of its ‘floating’ grille, the style of which is even
more striking.
To reinforce its exclusive character, the interior of the 508 RXH benefits from
special features with distinctive colours and luxurious materials, like its premium
quality interior and upholstery.
Its unique level of trim and equipment is coherent with the top-of-the-range and
technological positioning of the vehicle. Richly equipped as standard (keyless entry
system, electric front seats, head up display, 18″ wheels, panoramic glass roof,
dark-tinted acoustic laminated side windows, latest audio generation and satellite
navigation unit), it welcomes its occupants with care, refinement and a high level of
comfort.
Equipped with the 2.0 l HDi FAP HYbrid4 drive train, the world first full hybrid
diesel-electric engine, the 508 RXH extends driving pleasure and freedom to travel
anywhere on all roads. With a maximum power of 147 kW (200 bhp), four-wheel
drive and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, the 508 RXH has been designed to adapt
to all uses, in a spectrum of conditions. Furthermore, it opens up new perspectives
in the segment, offering a ZEV 100% electric mode, ideal for driving in town and for
reducing consumption in the combined cycle to 4.2 l/100 km, with emissions of 109
g/km of CO2*.
After the nearly launch of the 3008 HYbrid4, the Peugeot brand will continue its
innovative strategy, combining driving sensations and advanced environmental
developments, extending HYbrid4 technology to other models.
The 508 RXH will be unveiled as a world premiere at the Frankfurt International
Motor Show in September 2011, and will be on sale in spring 2012.
