It’s that time of month again: April 2011 sales in the U.S. have been counted up, including, of course, hybrid vehicles. It’s worth pointing out that quake-related shortages have impacted the supply of most hybrid models.
History repeats itself with the Toyota Prius, once again, perched atop the gas-electric segment, racking up 12,477 sales in April. The Honda Insight retained second place with 2,644 units sold. The Honda CR-Z and Ford Fusion Hybrid finished the month in third and fourth places, respectively, while the Lexus RX 450h climbed the charts, landing in fifth place.
Meanwhile, sales of the Lexus CT 200h slipped from 2,199 units in March, to just 875 in April. The typically low-selling Lexus HS 250h fared even worse, with sales ringing in at 279 units, a 75-percent drop compared to March – again, due at least in part to the earthquake in Japan.
