Contrary to earlier reports, not every 2011 Model Year vehicle in the GM stable is due for a price increase. The Detroit Free Press had an article earlier this week saying that “nearly all” GM models will cost, on average, $123 more after the increase takes effect May 2nd. We wondered, will GM’s most-talked-about vehicle be hit with this tiny spike?

Michael Albano, director of Chevrolet communications, told AutoblogGreen that internally, GM was discussing last week a possible price increase for the Volt, but that – for now, at least – the MSRP for the Volt remains a solid $41,000. No one was able to tell us why the Volt escaped a price hike this time, but you can certainly speculate in our new commenting system.

*UPDATE: Tom Henderson, of GM communications staff, sales, economic and industry trends, told AutoblogGreen that, “at its current price, we feel the Volt represents a great value for consumers. However, for competitive reasons we won’t comment on specific pricing decisions by vehicle.
