Honda prepping Mugen CR-Z, more N-One models for Tokyo Auto Salon

The title of Steve Martin’s groundbreaking 1977 comedy-music album was “Let’s Get Small,” but the title may just as well be used to describe the approach Honda is taking for the vehicles the Japanese automaker is showing off at the Tokyo Auto Salon next month.

Most notable for fuel-sipping enthusiasts is the unveiling of the CR-Z Mugen RZ, a hot-roddish version of the Honda hybrid coupe that the company first announced this fall. Among other advancements, the Mugen version uses a supercharger to increase the standard version’s output by 30 horsepower (to 153 hp). The model, of which just 300 will be produced in Japan only, will also feature an improved exhaust system, suspension and braking.

Other, more petite models Honda is showing off include a few variants of the boxy N-One mini vehicle, a concept vehicle based on the S2000 convertible and, yes, some new motorcycle models. The Tokyo Auto Salon takes place January 11 – 13. Check out Honda’s press release below.
