Chevy Volt gets $5,000 price drop in Canada, too
In the US, the 2014 Volt will start at $34,995 (*including $810 for destination), when it goes on sale. While the US and Canadian dollars are roughly equal now ($1 Canadian equals 97 cents in the US today), the starting price for the Canadian Volt will be CDN$36,895, plus a $1,600 destination fee. The US has a $7,500 federal tax credit available nationwide, some provinces in Canada offer government incentives that range from $5,000 to $8,231. So, it all sort of comes out in the wash.
According to Hybrid Cars, the Volt is the best-selling plug-in vehicle in Canada, “outselling all plug-ins and EV’s in 2012 combined. Reduced prices are the name of the game in the plug-in vehicle game these days, which has some interesting side effects for things like pick-ups.
