Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota Rav4 Hybrid ad campaign, Tesla Model X wheels, tires
Teslarati gives a rundown on the various wheel and tire combinations for the Tesla Model X. The Model X comes with 20-inch Silver wheels as standard, with 20-inch Helix wheels ($2,500) and 22-inch Turbine wheels ($4,500) available as an option in silver or charcoal. The 22-inch wheels lower the maximum towing capacity to 3,500 pounds, which could be part of the reason 72 percent of buyers have opted for 20-inchers. As for tires, the 20-inch Continental CrossContact LX Sports recommend 40 PSI for both the front and rear. The 22-inch Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetricos operate at 42 PSI front and rear. A European company has ordered 100-kW PowerCell S3 fuel cell stack prototype from PowerCell Sweden AB. It’s the fuel cell manufacturer’s first order for the PowerCell S3, and it will be used in an automotive capacity. While earlier Powercell platforms extracted hydrogen from diesel fuel, the PowerCell S3 only uses hydrogen as fuel. The PowerCell S3 prototype is expected to be ready for delivery in the second quarter of 2016. Read more at Green Car Congress.
