Lots of used, cheap-ish Fisker Karmas available right now

If you want a Fisker Karma extended-range plug-in vehicle, you don’t need to wait for the new version to reappear in a few years. Green Car Reports says there are plenty available on the used market.

EBay is listing about 17 Karmas right now, ranging from $41,000 to about $76,000, while Auto Trader has about 70 on its docket (to compare, there are currently 272 used Tesla Model S sedans on the site, a bigger number from a much larger pool of sold vehicles). Most of the used Karmas are in the $50,000 to $60,000 price range, and the mileage tends to be low because the vehicles are all 2012 model-year versions. Fisker made about 2,600 Karma vehicles (and blew through a ton of cash) before ceasing production in the summer of 2012.

China’s Wanxiang Group acquired Fisker last year for $126.2 million in cash and $8 million in assumed liabilities, beating out Hybrid Tech Holdings from Hong Kong in the process (bottom-feeding Wanxiang Group also nabbed bankrupt lithium-ion battery maker A123 Systems). Wanxiang wants to restart sales and production of the sports car under the Elux brand name, though any potential re-launch has been pushed back until at least next year.
