The first production Koenigsegg Regera looks wonderful in bare green carbon

More than a year after its reveal, the first Koenigsegg Regeras will soon be reaching customer hands. At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg will highlight the first few customer build versions of the 1,500-horsepower hybrid Swedish supercar. This also marks the first time Koenigsegg will build two models simultaneously at its Ängelholm production facility.

Most of the big facts about the Regera have been revealed already, and the numbers sound like a joke – but aren’t. 1,500 horsepower from an electrically-assisted, twin-turbocharged V8, all going to the rear wheels through a direct drive system. An 800-volt system supplies power to three electric motors for a healthy 670 horsepower, with the tried and true Koenigsegg V8 making up the difference.

The Regera has carbon fiber wheels to match its carbon fiber body and features some advanced aero, including a new top-mounted rear wing that is fully stowable for better aerodynamics. Also stowable is the removable roof panel. This particular car uses a British Racing Green-esque weave that contrasts beautifully with the saddle brown leather interior. The car will use Michelin’s new Pilot Sport 4S tires.

The Regera comes with adjustable sport seats, Apple CarPlay (but no Android Auto), two induction phone charging points (strange since iPhones don’t have induction charging), surround view cameras, and Koenigsegg’s Autoskin system that allows the driver to open any of the doors or hoods with the touch of a button. Color options vary, as one of the other first-run cars is decked out in candy apple red carbon fiber.

As beautiful as the green carbon fiber and brown leather may be, no one buys a Koenigsegg just for the looks. 1,500 horses and nearly an equal amount of torque propel the Regera to 186 mph in 10 seconds. In another 10, the car can reach 249 mph. Oh, and it can do that with the top removed. Look for more photos at the Regera’s full debut in Geneva.
