China-based Techrules has 1,030-hp turbine-hybrid for Geneva
Techrules claims the key to these lofty performance figures is the automaker’s “innovative range-extending turbine recharging technology.” The company doesn’t say how this solution differs from previous attempts at the idea, though. For example, New York City experimented with diesel-fueled microturbines for a hybrid bus in 2007. There was also a one-off hybrid supercar with Capstone’s microturbines in 2009. Jaguar even toyed with the layout on the original version of the C-X75 concept in 2010.
The company’s single teaser doesn’t offer many hints about the design, but the vehicles on the left and right have slightly different headlights, which suggests Techrules could have two concepts for Geneva. We’re curious to see what the automaker debuts in Switzerland but still dubious about the firm’s performance claims until more info comes out.
Beijing, 17 February 2016 – The performance and environmental impact of future electric vehicles will be revolutionized by an innovative range-extending turbine recharging technology, which will be presented for the first time at the 86th Geneva International Motor Show on 1 March 2016.
China-based automotive R&D company, Techrules, will showcase its unique and patented Turbine-Recharging Electric Vehicle (TREV) system in an all-new concept supercar. The system incorporates several technological innovations that deliver unprecedented advances in both whole-life environmental efficiencies and dynamic performance.
Projected performance highlights of the Techrules concept supercar with TREV technology include:
Peak power: 768 kW (1,030 bhp / 1,044 PS)
Range: over 2,000 km
