Interestingly, this is actually slightly worse than the previous generation of Honda Accord Hybrid. That model also returned 47 mpg on the highway, but in town, it managed 49 mpg, and the combined rating was 48 mpg. Both cars also produced the same 212 horsepower between the gas engine and electric motor.
Although the new Accord Hybrid does worse than the old Accord Hybrid, it still has the highest combined fuel economy of any midsize sedan, just edging out the Chevy Malibu Hybrid, which has better city fuel economy, but worse highway mileage. It’s also still the most fuel efficient Honda this side of the Clarity line, and it should deliver the same excellent ride and handling, not to mention great styling, of the normal Accord. Pricing hasn’t yet been revealed for the Accord Hybrid, but it should reach dealer lots in the next few months.
